In North Carolina, annual crime statistics of each county and town are compiled by the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) according to the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) guidelines.

Where and How To Get Birth and Death Records.
Certified copies of birth and death records can be obtained from the county Register of Deeds. Records can be requested in person, via mail or online. The county provides online ordering services in partnership with Premium/AIS. For requests sent via mails, inquirers are expected to provide enough information to aid the office in locating the requested records with ease.
Information required to obtain certified copies of Birth and Death Records include:
- Registrant’s full name at birth.
- Full names of mother and Father, including Mother’s maiden name.
- Date of birth
- Place of Birth (City, County, and Town)
- Inquirer’s relationship to the subject.
For Death Records, the inquirer is expected to provide the following information:
- The deceased’s full name
- Date of Death
- Place of Death (City, Town, and County)
In addition to that, the inquirer is expected to fill and submit the Application for Certified Copy with a copy of valid photo identification. Inquirers are advised to also call the Register of Deeds office prior to sending requests to avoid errors.

The Edgecombe County Register of deeds provides copies of marriage records for events that occurred within the county. Requesters will be required to provide details to facilitate the search, including:
