Crime Statistics
As part of the FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting Program, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation publishes annual crime statistical data submitted by various law enforcement agencies. In 2017, Wayne County law enforcement agencies reported a 7.9% decline in the index crime rate between 2016 and 2017. According to the data, the total index crime rate per 100,000 was reported to be 3,283.6, with property crimes accounting for 88% of the county’s reported crimes, while violent crimes constituted 11% of the total reports. Reports of violent crimes declined 13%, with the violent crime rate dropped from 442 in 2016 and 384.2 in 2017.

How to get Criminal Records

Vital Records
North Carolina's vital records are primarily managed and disseminated by the North Carolina Department of Health. However, these records are also maintained and issued at the county level, and in Wayne county, by the office of the Register of Deeds. Where and How to Get Marriage Records, Birth Records and Death records
Requests for records of marriages, births, and deaths which occur in Wayne County are processed by the office of the Register of Deeds. In compliance with state laws, these records may not be obtained by persons who do not meet the state eligibility requirements. To be eligible, the requestor must also be a subject of the record, an immediate family member of the subject (with proof of relationship), a legal representative of any of the aforementioned parties, or persons who have been authorized by a court order.
